Why I Don’t Wear Polyester Anymore
…and Why Cotton Feels Like Coming Home
People assume it’s a trend thing. It’s not. I stopped wearing polyester because my body kept telling the truth long before my mind caught up.
At first I brushed it off — the subtle irritation, the heat that stayed trapped against my skin, the way I’d feel drained or buzzy after wearing synthetic clothes all day. Eventually I realized I wasn’t imagining it. Polyester and I? We’re just not compatible.
Here’s the heart of it.
1. Polyester messes with your actual bio-field
Polyester doesn’t breathe. It traps heat, holds static, and creates a low-level friction your nervous system has to manage.
If you’re sensitive — emotionally, intuitively, energetically — that stuff builds up. You end the day feeling fried, overstimulated, or just… off.
Think of it like wearing a plastic bag your spirit has to fight through.
Cotton, on the other hand, lets your body regulate itself. It supports your natural electrical field instead of interrupting it. It feels like your skin can finally exhale.
2. Polyester is literally plastic
It’s petroleum-based. Which means:
It sheds microplastics into your home, your laundry, your lungs, the ocean.
It sticks around for decades.
It off-gasses chemicals, especially when heated by your body.
Most people don’t realize how much their clothing contributes to inflammation, headaches, skin issues, and general low-grade discomfort. If you’re sensitive or intuitive? Multiply that by ten.
Cotton is simple. Natural. Biodegradable. Renewable. Your body recognizes it — not as a foreign object, but as something that came from the earth.
3. Polyester disconnects you from your senses
When you wear synthetic fibers, your body gets dull. Your awareness drops a layer. Your intuition feels quieter.
Cotton brings you back into your body.
You can feel your environment clearly.
Your emotional signals and sensory cues show up cleanly instead of battling interference.
For someone like me — someone who works with energy, reads people, and lives from instinct — that matters.
4. Cotton lasts longer, feels better, and doesn’t age like plastic
Polyester pills, snags, and gets weirdly shiny with wear.
Cotton softens.
It molds to your life.
It becomes yours.
There’s no replacement for that.
5. My nervous system is calmer in natural fibers
This was the big one.
Cotton clothing feels like neutrality. Stability. Ground.
Polyester always made me feel like I was buzzing, overheating, or slightly displaced from my own body.
Once I noticed the difference, I couldn’t un-notice it.
6. It’s a quiet way of living in integrity with what I teach
I talk about intuition, embodiment, and connecting to the subtle layers of life. If the clothing on my body is fighting the very thing I’m practicing? Something’s off.
Choosing cotton isn’t moral or aesthetic — it’s alignment.
It’s wearing something that lets my spirit stay present instead of wrestling my environment.
So… why cotton?
Because it feels honest.
Because my skin relaxes.
Because my intuition gets louder.
Because my nervous system stops bracing.
Because it supports the way I live, work, and move through the world.
Once you feel the difference, it’s hard to go back.
